Green Acres School seeks an experienced teacher of fourth grade science. The fourth grade science program asks students to engage in finding real-life solutions to world problems through units of study in astronomy, physics, engineering, and robotics. Students undertake a wide range of projects in order to explore major issues in 21st-century science. Applicants should demonstrate experience in hands-on methods of instruction as well as in more traditional approaches to learning. Teachers use best practices in classroom management while building strong relationships with individual students. The expectation for professional collaboration is high, both to coordinate efforts as a teaching team and to build integrated cross-curricular units. The ability to teach in other disciplines, such as math or social studies, is highly valued.
