Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School of the Nations Capital is in search of a full-time accountant. The incumbent will be responsible for all accounting activities including A/R, A/P, General Ledger, and reporting. The incumbent will also examine, analyze, understand and interpret accounting system records, reports, and provide input on accounting/financial management matters to the Chief Business Officer. The incumbent will prepare and interpret financial reports, statements, and data as it relates to revenue sources and expenditures for effective budgeting and planning. In addition, duties include but are not limited to:
Advise CBO and management on the status of accounts and recommend alternatives to improve the school’s financial position.
Perform reconciliations of accounts and maintaining documentation for audit trails.
Audit accounting transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP.
Reconcile general ledger accounts to school records. Prepare various accounting reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Identify accounting issues and make recommendations for the update of internal controls and ensure the reliability and security of finances.
Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to accounting and financial reporting.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent.
Non-profit experience, school experience a plus.
Experience with QuickBooks.
Three (3) to Five (5) years of progressive accounting experience.
