Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School is seeking a Learning Specialist in the elementary grades to cover a maternity leave beginning in January until April 2018. Candidates should have a strong background in special education and a minimum of 3 years of experience providing reading intervention and academic support to students with a range of learning styles and language based learning differences. The Learning Specialist will join MILTON Student Support Team and provide direct reading instruction to small groups of students, as well as academic support during whole group language arts and math lessons. They will work with the Director of Student Support Services and collaborate with Division Directors, General Studies Teachers, and other Learning Specialists to assess and meet the academic needs of all students. Communication with teachers, parents, and outside professionals is also required. A Masters degree in education and additional training in reading intervention is preferred.
