The Office of Institutional Advancement seeks an individual to join a team of 8 in a dynamic office of development and communications, reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement. The Director of the Annual Fund (which we call The Lab School Fund) will manage all aspects of the annual giving program, including personal solicitations, as well as telephone, electronic, social media and mailed appeals. This team player should appreciate The Lab School of Washington’s mission, enjoy multi-tasking, have a sense of humor, and have the ability, experience, demeanor and talent to successfully work with colleagues, parents, Trustees, parents of alumni, alumni, and other members of The Lab School community.
The Lab School of Washington is a national leader among independent schools serving students with learning differences. We are a 1st through 12-grade college preparatory school that provides a unique arts based academic program that encourages scholarship and creativity for students with language based learning differences and ADHD.
The Director of The Lab School Fund will work closely with other advancement colleagues to cultivate, solicit and steward Lab School Fund donors. In conjunction with the Director of Institutional Advancement, this person will create an Annual Giving plan, including the case for support, schedule, segmentation strategy and roles for volunteers to ensure the continued growth and increasing participation from all constituent groups. S/he will develop all Lab School Fund communications and messages consistent with the School’s mission and strategic goals.
Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years+ experience in fundraising, preferably annual giving.
Preference given to fundraising experience for an independent school.
Excellence in both written and verbal communication skills.
Strong volunteer management experience and ability.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Appreciation of The Lab School’s mission.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Raiser’s Edge.
Willingness to support the Advancement Office with participation in some weekend, early morning and evening events.
Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Creativity and flexibility.
