McLean School (mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Parent Liaison and Events Manager to begin immediately. McLean School has, for sixty years, been helping students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. The Parent Liaison and Events Manager provides leadership, professional expertise, coordination, and direction in working with the McLean Parent community and in the execution of high quality school events.
Responsible for building key relationships with members of our community, including parents, the Parents Association, alumni, faculty, and staff. This includes leading and managing school events that build community, school spirit, cultivate donors, and drive engagement within the McLean community. As a representative of the Development Office, this also includes working collaboratively with the Parents Association, volunteers, Division Heads, and members of the Administrative Team. S/he is responsible for developing the key aspects of McLean events including the objectives, action plans, operating procedures, scheduling, budgeting, promotion, and execution. S/he will assist in shortand long-term planning, prepare pre- and post event analyses, assess opportunities and make recommendations for future. It is important that this individual understands what it means to be a true liaison, serving as a bridge for communication between the Development Office and key stakeholders within the community.
Facilitates communication among the Development Office to ensure appropriate date selection and location for meetings and events
Manages and executes events and activities sponsored by the Development Office and Parents Association
Establishes and monitors spreadsheets, project plans, and budgets for meeting planning and events
Works closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing to promote school events
Solicits and engages volunteers for various Development opportunities
Provides general support to the Director of Development and the Annual Giving Manager with key events, volunteer acquisition, and other tasks

Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Experience: Two to three years of Development experience, event planning
Preferred: Experience in a school or non-profit environment
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel Spreadsheets
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong writing and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, creative, and motivated
Ability to be a team player across divisions and departments
Strong time and project management skills
Willingness to work some evening and weekend events
