Oakwood School in Northern Virginia is now accepting applications for a full-time Middle School Teacher for the 2017-18 school year. Applicants should have appropriate education and experience to teach Middle School students (Grades 6 – 8) with learning disabilities, including dyslexia. Teacher licensure or willingness to pursue Virginia licensure in Special Education, Learning Disabilities, or a related field is required. The Oakwood team-teaching model requires good collaboration skills and an understanding of multisensory teaching methods and strategies for bright students with diverse learning styles. Oakwood middle school faculty members teach reading (decoding, encoding, comprehension), writing, math, and either social studies or science. Appropriate candidates will demonstrate positive classroom management techniques for students with attentional issues as well as atypical learning styles. Candidates must possess and demonstrate clear, professional writing abilities. Oakwood School offers a supportive working environment for our faculty and staff.
