Stone Ridge is seeking a Director of Performing Arts to begin August 17, 2017.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. The Director of Performing Arts provides leadership to the School’s strong and expanding performing arts programming. As Director of the Performing Arts Department, s/he assists Division Heads with the supervision of and provides leadership and support for music, theater, and dance faculty in the Early Childhood Program, Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School. S/he supports the ongoing efforts of the Director of Curriculum to articulate and implement a mission-driven, standards-based performing arts curriculum. As a member of the School’s Management Team, the Director of Performing Arts collaborates with other program leaders and administrators to shape the programmatic and professional life of the School. S/he supports the coordination of all curricular and co-curricular performing arts programming, including the annual all-school Christmas Concert, the annual Spring Festival, theatrical productions, dance recitals, and other occasional performances. S/he teaches music courses, including: Upper School Chorus, AP Music Theory, a cappella extracurriculars, and s/he performs other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate possesses an advanced degree in a related field as well as significant experience in teaching and leadership in independent and/or Catholic schools. S/he demonstrates an understanding of the role of performing arts in the education of girls; excellent communication skills; the ability to articulate and implement a clear vision for performing arts programming; strong interpersonal skills; and attention to planning and details. S/he has a good sense of humor and enthusiasm for the school’s mission and culture.
