The German School Washington seeks a part-time German Instruction Teacher for the 2017/2018 school year.
Instruction in German only (including all preparation and grading)
This position consists of approximately 18 instructional hours per week and includes associated duties outside of the classroom (preparation, grading, supervision, responding to parents, meetings, events, etc.).
The teacher instructs students in grades 5 to 12 in accordance with the schulinternen Lehrplan and curricularen Bestimmungen der Deutschen Internationalen Abiturprüfung.
This position is open for a period of one school year
Individual and small-group instruction, adapting the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities.
Compliance with all guidelines and rules; working with other German Schools in North America.
Preparation, administration, and grading tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress. Preparation of lessons and materials for class activities.
Accurate and complete student records as required by laws, and administrative regulations.
Enforcement of all policies and rules governing students; maintaining appropriate discipline.
Observation and evaluation of student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Meetings to confer with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to offer guidance for their development.
Participation in school work groups such as Quality Management.
Willingness to incorporate non-school events/opportunities into the curriculum (e.g. theater, museums)
Fluency in German and English, both verbal and written
First and second Staatsexamen or comparable certification
