National Presbyterian School, an independent, coeducational elementary school (Pre-Kindergarten 3 through 6th grade) located in Washington, DC, is conducting a search for a full-time Lower Division Art Teacher to teach Pre-K 4 through 2nd Grade beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.
The ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of early childhood art education and will have demonstrated success in teaching early childhood age students. The Lower Division Art Teacher is responsible for planning, managing, and implementing a hands-on and processed- based art curriculum. They will create a warm and loving class environment that encourages creativity and self expression. In addition, they will teach students about a variety of techniques, styles, mediums, and artists while promoting the freedom to explore, imagine, and discover. In prospective candidates, NPS is looking for educators who possess the skills and passion necessary to inspire learning and enhance the overall educational experience by fostering students’ academic, ethical, social, and emotional development in accordance with the National Presbyterian School mission, philosophy, and Core Values.
The Lower Division Art Teacher will participate fully in the life of the school. Duties and responsibilities include preparing written report card comments, facilitating parent-teacher conferences, attending Specialized Teacher and full faculty meetings, serving on content area or school life committees, and duties related to the supervision of arrival, recess, lunch, and dismissal. The Lower Division Art Teacher will also collaborate with the Upper Division Art Teacher to ensure a smooth transition from Lower Division to Upper Division art curriculum.
