The Assistant Director of Admissions is a full-time position in the Admissions Office. He or she works strategically with the Director of Admissions and members of the Admissions team on all aspects of the admissions cycle. The Assistant Director of Admissions serves on the Admissions Committee and also assists in making decisions regarding financial aid applications.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Provides guidance and direction to the Admissions Team in the absence of the Director of Admissions; assists the Director of Admissions with management of the Admissions Team
Reviews and analyzes financial aid applications in collaboration with the Director of Admissions
Conducts daily parent tours and represents the school at admissions events, including (but not limited to) open houses and admissions fairs
Interviews prospective students and parents
Reviews and evaluates student applications
Manages the Student Host program
Periodic weekend and evening work required
The ideal candidate cares deeply about the mission and values of The Field School and can communicate clearly and specifically about the value of a Field education. He or she is comfortable and confident working with both students and parents. The Assistant Director of Admissions must also be able to evaluate students both on paper and in person; he or she has exceptionally strong interpersonal skills and is able to assess cultural fit between the prospective family and the school based on both application materials and personal interactions. The ideal candidate not only understands but also deeply values the breadth and diversity of our student body.
He or she must be creative, detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and able to work independently and collaboratively. Additionally, the candidate must be good at meeting deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Ability to attend to light manual labor required.
Familiarity and ease in working with technology a must (Google Apps; Filemaker Pro experience a plus.) Fluency in languages other than English (particularly Spanish) also a plus.
The Assistant Director of Admissions is a full-time, school-year position. There are also limited opportunities for involvement in other activities (such as athletics, honors courses, student clubs) at the discretion of the Director of Admissions, the Associate Head of School, and the Head of School. Ideally, this individual is also someone who can make a multiple year commitment to the position.
