National Presbyterian School, an independent co-educational elementary (Nursery-Grade 6) school located in Washington, DC, seeks a Sixth Grade Teaching Associate for the 2018-2019 academic year. Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree and have experience working with elementary school-aged children.
Under the supervision of homeroom teachers, the Teaching Associate will work in two Sixth Grade classrooms to provide instructional support in all subject areas. Teaching Associates also participate fully in the life of the school, and additional responsibilities include attending grade level and full faculty meetings and assuming duties related to lunch, recess, and dismissal. In addition, as an instructor in the school’s terminal grade, the TA will help to provide assistance and support to the 6th grade homeroom teachers and students during the outplacement process.
Throughout the year, Teaching Associates are provided opportunities to participate in both school-based and off-site professional development. They also meet with administration to set long and short-term goals, and reflect on their progress and overall instructional practice.
