Oakwood School in Northern Virginia is now accepting applications for teachers with appropriate training to serve Elementary to Middle School students with learning disabilities. Teacher licensure and/or a graduate degree in Special Education, Learning Disabilities, or a related field is required. The Oakwood team-teaching model requires good communication and professional collaboration skills to provide the best educational experience for our students. A basic understanding of multisensory teaching methods, diverse learning styles and specific strategies for teaching students with learning needs and dyslexia is required. Some training can be provided to a motivated candidate.
An appropriate candidate will also demonstrate positive classroom management techniques for students with attentional issues, processing challenges, dysgraphia, and language-based learning disabilities. Oakwood School is dedicated to helping each child reach his/her potential. Applicant must have, or be eligible for, a Virginia Teaching License
