Washington Episcopal School is seeking a full-time Grade 6 homeroom teacher and advisor. The candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing the Language Arts program for Grade 6, as well as teaching a Grade 5 Language Arts class and a math class (Grade 6 or 7). The candidate will serve as a Middle School advisor for a group of Grade 6, 7, and 8 students and support the Grade 6 Musical.
The candidate will also be responsible for planning and supervising the one-week Grade 6 study trip to the U.S. desert southwest each spring. Responsive Classroom experience is desirable. Teachers within the Middle School are expected to work closely together as a team to ensure each child’s success. The candidate will also work collaboratively with school-wide colleagues and administrators on curriculum development and integration of technology.
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Middle School and/or elementary education, with a graduate degree preferred, and will have previously demonstrated successful experience teaching Middle School children.
