The Academy of the Holy Cross is accepting resumes for an Assistant Director of College Counseling.
The Academy of the Holy Cross (AHC), a Catholic College preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity. The AHC College Counselors are committed to guiding each girl and her family through a personalized college search.
The Assistant Director of College Counseling assists the Director of College Counseling in facilitating the college counseling program for students of The Academy of the Holy Cross. This includes educating students at all grade levels on college preparation and exploration, guiding students and parents in all aspects of the college admission process and acting as a liaison between AHC and college admission representatives.
Develop and facilitate programs for students and parents addressing college preparation, exploration, the application process and transition to college
Understand the college admission process at a variety of institution types and selectivity levels
Facilitate application process for seniors through advisories, class, parent and parent/student meetings
Facilitate college application readiness with juniors through educational programs, form preparation, and individual meetings with students and their parents
Educate students/parents on college selection process, college fairs and SAT/ACT registration
Work with school counselors to address college-related issues of students at all grade levels
College Counseling Programmatic Duties
Help develop all forms for college application process
Help maintain college counseling website and student/parent portals
Help develop programs and materials for parent/student meetings
Ensure timely preparation and completion of submitted college applications with College Counseling Assistant and Director of College Counseling
Work with Director of College Counseling to coordinate annual College Day in January
Works in conjunction with school counselors to help develop college resources for students with learning differences
Prepare school profile in collaboration with President and Principal
Write detailed letters of support for each counselee (half of the junior/senior class)
Facilitate review of transcripts to insure students have taken all necessary courses before graduation
Meet with all college admission representatives who visit AHC and facilitate meetings between college representatives and our students; build and maintain relationships with admission professionals.

Master's degree in Education, Counseling or Counseling Education or Bachelor's degree combined with relevant experience
Excellent organizational skills and written/oral communication skills
Flexibility with time and travel
Willingness to coordinate efforts with others
Ability to establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with their students and their families is key
Networking skills are important in cultivating and maintaining valuable relationships with college admission representatives
Must have internship or professional experience working as an admission counselor or college counselor
Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in post-secondary educational options, college admission process, financial aid resources and scholarship opportunities.
