The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a school nurse for the 2018-19 school year.
The school nurse is the primary medical caregiver for the school and supports the health and wellbeing of all students, preschool through grade 8. The nurse partners with parents, primary care physicians, and teachers, staff, and administrators to identify health problems and to develop student health care plans. The school nurse administers health services for students in a timely manner, offers initial health assessments and medical referrals, ensures the safety and health of the community, and educates the community on vital health issues.
The school nurse must be available on campus from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 pm each day. The nurse collaborates/liaises with division heads, the counseling staff, the Director of Summer Studio, the Director of Extended Day, the Director of Social and Emotional Learning, and the athletic director. The Langley School prefers the school nurse to be a 12 month position but is open to discussing a 10 month arrangement with highly qualified candidates.

Nursing degree from accredited nursing school and licensed in the Virginia, at least 5 years nursing experience (clinical experience preferred), excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to work in a face-paced environment, and a passion for working with children of all ages required.
