St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Md. seeks a part-time Assistant Designer to support the Communications and Advancement Offices through graphic design work.

Founded in 1978, St. Andrew’s is a co-educational independent day school, enrolling approximately 620 students in preschool-grade 12. The school has two campuses three miles apart. The Potomac Village Campus (preschool-grade 2) is on the grounds of St. Francis Episcopal Church and the 19-acre Postoak Campus (grades 3-12) is on Postoak Road in Potomac. Since 2008 St. Andrew’s has renovated or newly built each of its buildings and outdoor spaces, including a 43,000-square-foot Student Center in 2016 and current construction of a 31,000-square-foot Lower School opening in 2019 which will make St. Andrew’s a one-campus school.

In carrying out the duties of this job, the Assistant Designer will support the Designer and Digital Asset Manager in creating marketing materials for the school, for both internal and external audiences. The Assistant Designer will also work closely with the Advancement, Special Events, Alumni Affairs, and Development Offices. This position reports to the Director of Communications.
This 12-month position will work 20 hours a week.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
Edit and design invitations, advertisements, solicitations, banners, presentations, and other marketing materials for print, social media, and email campaigns
Create themes and looks for events and collateral materials to match
Develop fresh and creative designs while adhering to brand standards
Other duties as assigned including photographing school events and supporting other Communications and Advancement Office projects.
Bachelor’s degree required
Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite, in particular, InDesign, Photoshop
Experience with Microsoft Office, in particular, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, preferably in a professional setting
Photography experience and experience with Lightroom preferred
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, parents, and other constituents
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a busy office environment while maintaining the professional standards
