After Care Director and Licensing Coordinator/Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs
Founded in 1952, Norwood School is a coeducational, independent day school with approximately 450 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Norwood has an opening for an experienced After Care Director and Licensing Coordinator beginning with a flexible start date, but no later than July 1, 2019. The ideal candidate will have independent school and/or child care experience. This person will be well organized and be able to prioritize in order to meet deadlines, as well as multi-task on a regular basis. The successful applicant will have the capacity to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, be a team player, demonstrate an ability to take initiative, as well as work independently and collaboratively. For this role, a high level of customer service in dealing with parents is expected. In addition, the candidate will have the ability to learn new programs and registration systems. Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care qualification as a School Age and/or Preschool Child Care Director is preferred, but not required.
Primary responsibilities are the enrollment, management, staffing, care, and supervision of all children in the After Care program, as well as intermittent day care offerings throughout the school year. The Director is also responsible for managing the licensure of the After Care program, as well as the licensure for Norwood’s Pre-K program. This person will serve on the director team for Summer at Norwood, the School’s nine-week summer camp program.
The following are examples of the After Care Director and Licensing Coordinator/Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs duties:
After Care Director:
Hire and manage staff of After Care teachers
Manage the student enrollment of the After Care program
Manage the daily operations of the After Care program for grades PK – 8, consisting of up to 90 students daily from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Coordinate with the Business Office to process program billing, including annual and seasonal registrations and monthly drop-in charges
Effectively communicate with families regarding enrollment and student experiences within the After Care program
Work closely with the Auxiliary Programs Office Manager, Norwood Administrative staff, and faculty members
Meet and maintain School Age and Preschool Director qualifications to remain compliant with Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care regulations
Maintain knowledge of Maryland Department of Education Office of Child Care licensing regulations
Maintain student and staff files for the After Care and Pre-K programs to remain compliant with licensing regulations
Serve as point of contact for the licensing specialist with the Maryland Department of Education Office of Child Care
Lead annual Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care inspection
Manage submissions to the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care
Ensure After Care teachers are meeting continued education training requirements
Work with the Head of Lower School to ensure Pre-K teachers are meeting continued education training requirements
Summer at Norwood Camp Director
Manage the Summer at Norwood Before and After Care programs as the Director of After Care
Manage staff of After Care teachers and counselors
Communicate with Before Care staff to ensure quality of the program
Manage the daily operations of the After Care program for grades PK – 8, consisting of up to 50 students daily from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Process billing and payments for the Before and After Care programs within the camp registration system
Maintain knowledge of the Summer at Norwood registration system
Assist with Summer at Norwood planning throughout the school year
Assist with general camp director duties as needed
Work closely with other Summer at Norwood directors
This is a full-time, 12-month position, requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Work hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
