Sidwell Friends, a co-educational Quaker day school in Washington, DC, seeks an Assistant Principal/Academic Dean for its Upper School Division (grades 9-12). The Upper School Assistant Principal/Academic Dean works closely and assists the Principal with all Upper School matters. He/she oversees the Upper School academic program, including curriculum and scheduling.
The Assistant Principal/Academic Dean is also responsible for monitoring student academic performance and supervising the Student Support Team. He/she must possess the ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and parents, both orally and in writing.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop a deep understanding of the Sidwell Friends School academic program and those of other independent and public schools, both domestic and international. A master’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience as a classroom teacher and administrator in an independent school are required. A doctoral degree is preferred.
