SUMMARY OF POSITION
Reporting to the Associate Head of School, the Director of Co-Curricular Programs creates and implements innovative student programming, manages budgets, and supervises full- and part-time employees. The Director is responsible for Preschool through Grade 12 programs, including the Primary and Middle School extended day and after school programs, the WIS summer camp, and co-curricular international student trips. As a senior administrator (member of the Vision Team), the Director of Co-Curricular Programs will collaborate on key issues related to school operations.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Co-Curricular Programs is a 12-month position, with key responsibilities outlined below. The Associate Head of School and/or Head of School may assign additional duties in support of School objectives.
Sets schedule and management structure for all Co-Curricular Programs (e.g. teaching and supervision schedules, room allocation).
Supervises the registration process for all Co-Curricular Programs.
Schedules and oversees special events and activities such as music recitals, chess tournaments, and field trips (including trips to a local pool during summer camp).
Researches new ideas for development of the after school and camp programs.
Collaborates with Middle and Upper School Principals to create summer/Spring Break opportunities for Grades 6-12 students, including international trips.
Informs school community (in collaboration with Marketing & Communications Office as needed) about current and future programs and events.
Ensures Co-Curricular Programs staff are familiar with the school’s philosophy, Employee Handbook, Child Protection Policy, and the Code of Conduct/Behavior Expectations.
Assists staff with enforcement of the Code of Conduct/Behavior Expectations and provides guidance regarding disciplinary issues.
Represents WIS as the point of contact for parents whose children are enrolled (or who are considering enrollment) in WIS Co-Curricular Programs.
Works in close collaboration with the relevant leadership teams to maintain a smooth and cohesive transition between day programs and after school activities.
Ensures all Co-Curricular Programs administrative tasks are efficiently conducted and that achievements and problems are communicated in a timely manner.
Plans for staffing needs; hires (in conjunction with the Associate Head of School and the Director of Human Resources) qualified staff to meet those needs; supervises and appraises staff members.
Establishes the annual budget and sets tuition and fees for Co-Curricular Programs in collaboration with the Business Office, in order to meet revenue targets.
Ensures the Business Office receives billing information in a timely fashion.
Oversees all advertisements — paper and online — for Co-Curricular Programs.
Develops content for all Co-Curricular Programs materials/brochures and collaborates with the Communications and Marketing Office to ensure all print/online Co-Curricular Programs material is congruent with the School’s brand and message.
Establishes procedures to ensure the security of the buildings and occupants after school, as well as the safety of students, staff, and chaperones during field/pool trips.
Ensures facilities and IT equipment are properly maintained during vacation camps and restored to the original state when the programs conclude.
Three to seven years of administrative experience in a school or youth-serving organization
Experience designing age-appropriate, student-centered programming and assessing effectiveness and profitability of those programs
Exceptional entrepreneurial and organizational skills
Supervisory and hiring experience
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, work effectively under pressure, and pay attention to detail
Strong communication skills, a sense of humor, humility, and empathy

Commitment to diversity and inclusion
Previous experience at an international school and/or cultural fluency derived from international experience is a plus
Familiarity with CampBrain or a similar system is a plus
Fluency in a language in addition to English would be an asset, but is not required
