Founded in 1952, Norwood School is a coeducational, independent day school with approximately 450 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Norwood has an opening for an experienced, dynamic, child-centered educator to serve as a lower and middle school library assistant beginning August 29, 2019. This is a part-time, 10-month position. The candidate should have the ability to establish a rapport with students, parent volunteers, and teachers, and to work within the framework provided by the library media specialists in both the lower and middle schools. Responsibilities include: maintaining a physical presence in the lower school library; assisting in the management of the School's library collection; helping visitors to access, navigate, and check out resources; and teaching some lower school library, research, and technology lessons. The candidate must also have excellent organizational and writing skills, as well as strong communication skills to reach a broad range of learners. This is primarily a service position that requires flexibility, patience, and experience working with young children.
