Founded in 1952, Norwood School is a coeducational, independent day school with approximately 450 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Norwood has an opening for an experienced, dynamic, child-centered educator to teach 3rd-6th grade Spanish. This is a full-time position beginning in the 2019-2020 academic year. Responsibilities include coordinating with other teachers, planning and teaching all classes at four grade levels, reporting on student progress, and various duties connected to being a full-time faculty member. This position is part of the larger World Language department, and the teacher will collaborate will colleagues to implement the curriculum.
Ideally, applicants should have at least two years of experience teaching elementary and middle school Spanish courses using teaching methods that emphasize cultural authenticity and communicative activities that develop language proficiency. Native fluency and familiarity with ACTFL benchmarks and standards are strongly preferred. Experience developing and implementing thematic units is helpful. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
