Washington Episcopal School in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking a Director of the Extended Day Program. This is a salaried position with benefits.
The Extended Day program serves students in grades Nursery-8 from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. every day except Friday when the student hours are 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. The mission of the program is to provide a safe environment in which students in Nursery through Grade 8 spend time outside on the playground, enjoy snacks and activities, and work on school assignments.
The Extended Day Director manages the day-to-day operations of this program, where the following logistics are integral to and play an important part in the success of the program. All are under the responsibility of the Director:
Managing the Extended Day budget (in partnership with Division Directors)
Hiring staff (in partnership with Division Directors)
Keeping track of the hours staff work and communicating that information to the Business Office Staff hours are from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 2:30-6:00 on Fridays (unless they are working on an evening event which may go later)
Reporting attendance of drop-in participants to Business Office.
Keeping track of all Extended Day students on campus after school hours.
Organizing child care for evening events throughout the school year (Expectation is that you are here to oversee the majority of these evening events)
Fostering the partnership between home and school
Keeping open communications between teachers and Extended Day staff
Ordering and coordinating daily snack selection and supplies for the Program
Supervising and evaluating staff
Staff training will be created and administered by the Director and will occur prior to the start of the program and should be coordinated with the Division Directors
Formal written communication with families must be approved by your direct supervisor (i.e. letters home to all Extended Day families, etc.)
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree and will have demonstrated a successful experience working with children.
