Landon School seeks an Assistant Director of Communications. This position is for you if you are passionate about education, you manage projects successfully from start to finish, you have a metrics-driven mind with an eye for creativity, and you thrive on attention to the smallest detail while thinking “big” about how to share our school’s story.
Landon is an independent school for boys in grades 3–12, located on a beautiful 75-acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland. Our mission is to prepare talented boys for productive lives as accomplished, responsible and caring men whose actions are guided by the principles of perseverance, teamwork, honor, and fair play.
Since its founding in 1929, Landon has encouraged boys to become their best selves with our commitment to a teacher-coach-mentor model of instruction, our caring and dedicated faculty and staff, and our robust co-curricular program.
As an Assistant Director of Communications, your typical day will include working as a strategic and collaborative partner with Admissions and other departments. You will develop, test, and integrate strategies and tactics for our school’s engagement, recruitment, and marketing plans, such as email marketing, website optimization, and digital advertising. You will conduct data tracking and analytics on our website, social media platforms, and other digital assets to build successful strategies.
You will also work with our design partners to design, write, and oversee the production of printed and digital promotional materials. You may write content for our website, magazine, blog, newsletters, and other publications. You may take photos with a DSLR camera and edit them in Photoshop, shoot video for our website and YouTube channel, and post on our social media accounts.
You demonstrate a natural curiosity about the school’s program and community as well as trends in the education industry. This curiosity leads to creative thinking about how to effectively communicate and engage with internal and external audiences. You will join a team of four who is passionate about our school mission and committed to boys’ education, including a Visual Storyteller, Database/Website Manager and Director of Communications.
