National Cathedral School, located in the heart of Washington, D.C., is seeking an experienced Communications Director for a full-time position beginning July 1, 2021. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing an integrated marketing and communications program that supports NCS’s strategic priorities and communicates NCS’s unique attributes and accomplishments with external and internal constituents. This senior-level position, reporting directly to the Head of School, serves on the administrative team to ensure all communications reflect the school’s values and highest institutional priorities. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and several years’ experience in a relevant field. NCS is committed to leadership in multicultural education and a culturally diverse faculty and staff and seeks applications for this position from candidates who will contribute to an atmosphere in which all are valued and supported.
 
NCS’s Communications Director oversees all school communications and school marketing materials, including e-communications, website content, print materials, and social media. As a result, the successful candidates will have expert communications skills including copywriting, copyediting, and design, as well as an eye for web and print design, and advanced technical skills. The Communications Director supervises two full-time staff and consultants/freelancers as needed and works closely with the Assistant Director for Digital Media and Assistant Communications Director, overseeing website design and content. In addition, The Director represents the school in all media inquiries. For this reason, NCS seeks candidates with demonstrated, excellent interpersonal skills connecting with a wide range of constituents, and an ability to work independently and collaboratively with many colleagues.
