Join our team of dynamic advancement professionals and work with generous benefactors and committed volunteers to support the empowerment of young women National Cathedral School (NCS) seeks an experienced Director of Annual Giving to lead all facets of the school’s annual fundraising efforts, starting immediately.
The Director of Annual Giving leads the development team’s Annual Fund efforts with a data-driven and comprehensive plan to ensure successful attainment of progressive goals. The Director advances individual relationships across constituencies including parents, alumnae, grandparents, parents of alumnae, and friends and manages a portfolio of leading donors and prospective donors, soliciting and closing gifts in support of the Annual Fund as well as broader development goals. As a member of a team committed to continuous professional growth, the Director of Annual Giving pursues opportunities for professional development and applies innovative thinking and best practices to the annual giving program.
The successful candidate must be an independently motivated, goal-oriented, strategic thinker who can execute among multiple priorities and succeed in a dynamic, team oriented, results-driven environment. This candidate will be responsible for recruiting and managing Annual Fund volunteers; collaborating with development colleagues to ensure timely and high-quality communications, reporting, gift acknowledgments, and donor stewardship; and engaging fully as a member of the NCS development team in support of National Cathedral School’s Development, Alumnae Relations, and Parent Relations goals.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of professional fundraising experience
- Successful management of a portfolio of current and prospective donors. Demonstrated success closing gifts of $10,000 or more and attainment of quantitative and qualitative fundraising goals
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data to inform decisions, providing timely and useful reports
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
- Ability to handle challenging situations diplomatically and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, senior level executives, and governance level volunteer leaders
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, act with discretion, and maintain a high level of performance under pressure
- Ability to work without supervision and to organize, prioritize, and successfully execute multiple concurrent tasks; to anticipate needs and act accordingly, and to perform with a high degree of initiative and integrity
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness and ability to travel. Frequent regional and occasional national and overnight travel is required
Preferred:
- Experience with Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, or a similar CRM database
- Independent school experience
