Bullis School seeks an Upper School Visual Arts Teacher to contribute to our vibrant learning community starting in the 2022-2023 academic year. Candidates should be capable of, and interested in, teaching a wide range of students and math courses including drawing, painting, printmaking, art history, sculpture, ceramics and exhibition display. This position involves teaching five classes primarily in the upper school and several in the middle school, advising students, and opportunities to lead co-curricular activities.
The Bullis Arts department promotes that the arts are best appreciated by an active involvement in both the experiential and the academic study of visual arts. In Bullis visual arts courses there is both content to be learned and skills to be developed, as well as artistic attributes to be formed and nurtured. The position requires a professional with strong collaborative and technical studio art skills who can implement a program of learning that is foundational in practice and allows for the scaffolding of skills to enable student choice and agency.

Qualities of a Bullis Visual Arts Teacher

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Art or related field
- Minimum of three years teaching experience in middle or secondary education
- Must be able to work some nights and weekends
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Art, Education, or related field
- Proficiency with Windows or Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software
