Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver an engaging and rigorous program of proficiency-focused Modern Standard Arabic instruction at all levels.
• Conduct and organize ongoing assessments of student performance using multiple assessment tools, including standardized tests, oral and written performance assessments, informal assessments, homework, and project assessments as appropriate.
• Collaborate with other faculty members within the Modern Language Department to ensure consistency and continuity; seek out opportunities for cross-curricular learning working with other members of grade-level teams.
• Communicate proactively and regularly with parents, administrators, and other faculty about student progress.
• Contribute to the life of the school as a club moderator, advisor, and/or coach.

Qualifications:

• B.A. in Arabic, Education, or related area; advanced degree preferred
• Ability to teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced Arabic (levels 1-4)
• 2+ years’ experience working with middle and high school students (grades 6-12) and an enthusiasm for this age group
• Strong language skills in Modern Standard Arabic (ILR 3+)
• Experience developing curricula and willingness to create new classroom materials, incorporating technology as appropriate
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development
• The ability to teach French would be an asset, but is not essential
