Episcopal High School is seeking a talented, enthusiastic Librarian who enjoys or would expect to enjoy working in a boarding school environment. Under the direction of the Library Director, the librarian will help students and faculty with their information requests, perform a variety of library and circulation desk duties, and perform other duties in support of the library as needed and/or as assigned. Candidates must be self-directed and able to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, possess good customer service skills, and demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately learn new technology. The Librarian is responsible for participating in collegial decision making with other library staff and participation in staff meetings. Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting students and staff with circulation of library materials, use of the online catalog, and use of online database resources; promoting reading through creative programming, book club facilitation, and book displays; promoting library services through social media and library newsletters; updating LibGuide to reflect most current offerings of library, both physical and digital; monitoring the library proctor program during evening shifts; and performing other boarding school responsibilities as assigned.
This is a full-time position, beginning in August 2022 with an excellent vacation schedule with school calendar, full benefits package, and a competitive wage/salary commensurate with experience. While the start and stop times may vary slightly, the regularly scheduled work hours for this position will include afternoons and evenings, Sunday through Thursday, each week of the academic year.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Coursework in library science or Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school
- Experience working with students, especially those at high-school age, is a plus
- Familiarity with standard cataloging (MARC, RDA)
- Strong written, verbal, and listening skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organization skills with great attention to detail
- Experience with Google Apps including, but not limited to, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar and Google Drive, etc. is preferred
