Oakwood School in Northern Virginia is accepting applications for teachers with appropriate training to serve students with language-based learning disabilities. The current opening is for a position in our Middle School.

Oakwood School classrooms are designed around a team-teaching model with two classroom teachers assigned to 12 students in a homeroom. Students are broken into small groups for math, reading, and written language. The team-teaching model requires good communication and professional collaboration skills to provide the best educational experience for our students. 

An appropriate candidate will demonstrate positive classroom management techniques for students with attentional issues, processing challenges, dysgraphia, and language-based learning disabilities. A basic understanding of multisensory teaching methods, diverse learning styles, and specific strategies for teaching students with learning needs and dyslexia is required.

• Applicant must have, or be eligible for, a Virginia Teaching License
• Endorsement in Special Education, Learning Disabilities, or a related field is required. Graduate degree is preferred.
