The Academy of the Holy Cross is accepting resumes for a part-time Art Teacher for the 2022-2023 academic year.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct students in art, including ceramics, photography and studio art.
- Follow the syllabus for the course being taught and collaborate on pacing and major assessments with fellow department members and interdisciplinary projects
- Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying artistic abilities and background
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment, including ceramics wheel, kiln and cameras.
- Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students' work for the school and community
- Plan and lead filed trips to local museums and galleries
- Prepare classes using formal, written lesson plans
- Evaluate student work and maintain up-to-date records of student assessments and grades
- Maintain a pleasant and productive class environment that is student-centered and conducive to learning
- Participate in Professional Development opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION:
- B.F.A. is expected; MFA is desirable
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience teaching Art, preferably at the high school level, with a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the elements of art and the principles of design
- Must be specialized in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or Studio arts and should also have relevant experience in creating art products (paintings, sculptures, designs and sketches)
- Knowledge operating a kiln is desirable
- Experience with integrating appropriate educational technologies into the teaching environment
- Experience with teaching or working with the assistive technologies of the iPad is desirable
SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing
- Ability and willingness to plan and organize materials and lessons
- Ability to work with colleagues in the Art department to develop lesson plans, write assessments, and generally maintain academic standards
- Flexibility in dealing with changing schedules and situations
- Must be comfortable teaching students in an all-girls Catholic School
