Position Purpose: To ensure robust pool of strong applicants for Landon’s Upper School, to manage proactively and creatively Upper School admissions process, and to ensure thoughtful, thorough, and welcoming communication for all who apply to Landon.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement multi-year admissions plan for Landon Upper School in conjunction with Director of Admissions
- Analyze demographic and admissions data to ensure proactive and creative plan that will attract new applicants and grow overall pool of applicants to Landon School. Assist/lead with executing that plan.
- Oversee all stages of admissions process for Upper School applicants, appropriately communicating all events and engaging faculty, staff, and volunteers as appropriate
- Host admissions functions; manage and lead full cycle of Information Sessions, Shadow Days, Panel Discussions, and all other admission events
- Manage the upper school student ambassador program
- Promote Landon to external and internal audiences; professionally represent and market the school at school fairs, public appearances, open houses, conferences, etc.
- Interview all prospective applicants and their parents/guardians
- Oversee international admissions program
- Lead admissions committee(s); prepare completed candidate files for admissions committee, providing supporting data and identifying competing priorities and ensure accurate and completely updated database
- Serve on financial aid committee; answer questions and address concerns related to financial aid applicant families and contribute to committee deliberations as appropriate
- Pursue professional development opportunities as appropriate to remain current with best practices
- Support School and its leadership by embracing and supporting the Landon Mission/Philosophy, core values, and all School policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree plus 2-3 years of work experience, ideally in a school admissions setting, or in a role connected to sales, marketing etc.
- Professional and personable self-starter with a growth mindset and ability to work independently
- Skillful and persuasive communicator – in both writing and speech
- Capable manager with record of success in working collaboratively and productively with others
- Driven, solutions-oriented, industrious, accountable, and passionate about achieving results
- High degree of integrity, discretion, and trustworthiness
- Proficient, analytical, organized, detail-oriented, proactive and creative
- Experience with school data base software and other technology such as MS Office suite
- Professional and engaging demeanor and presentation
