The National Cathedral School has an immediate opening for an Individual Giving Coordinator in the Development Office. Reporting to the Director of Development for Individual Giving, with a dotted line to the Head of Development and Philanthropy the Individual Giving Coordinator serves as a fully engaged member of the Development team providing major gift fundraising support and serving as a liaison with two Governing Board committees.
The successful candidate will bring an attention to detail and customer service orientation to help advance the work of the Development team. Able to track and meet multiple competing deadlines, this individual will ensure the Development team’s work with its largest supporters and Governing Board meets the highest level of quality.
Responsibilities:
Individual Giving Support
- Managers calendar and scheduling of major gift meetings to help ensure coordination and efficient time management
- Handles constituent inquiries and outreach
- Prepares prospect briefings
- Conducts prospect research
- Drafts and manages correspondence
- Manages expense reimbursements
- Provides supplemental event support as needed
- Serves as occasional backup for Development Coordinator, managing incoming phone calls, mail, and gifts
Governing Board Liaison
- Proactively works with Director of Development, Director of Finance and Operations, and Assistant to the Head of School to ensure professional-level interaction with Governing Board members
- Attends meetings of the Governing Board and prepares draft of Board meeting minutes for Director of Finance and Operations
- Coordinates with Assistant to Head of School to ensure effective event management of Governing Board meetings. Serves as backup for Assistant to Head of School for event management of Governing Board meetings
- Ensures timely and accurate tracking of Governing Board membership and tenure, Board leadership and tenure, committee assignments and tenure. Performs and ensures timely and accurate recording of Board service in Raiser's Edge and Board working documents
- Drafts and maintains professional biographical information for Governing Board members and Board committee members
- Provides administrative support to Head of Development and Philanthropy who serves as staff liaison to Governance Committee and Development Committee of the Governing Board. Responsibilities include event management of committee meetings, management of committee working documents and committee communications, and preparation of committee meeting minute.

Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to work independently and to organize, prioritize, and successfully execute multiple concurrent tasks; to anticipate needs and act accordingly, and to perform with a high degree of initiative
- Ability to handle challenging situations diplomatically and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, senior-level executives, and trustee-level volunteer leaders
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, act with discretion, and maintain a high level of performance under pressure
- Demonstrated proficiency in drafting and preparing professional correspondence
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
- Consistently demonstrate superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional experience in an executive support role in Development, Alumni Relations, or a related field preferred.
