The Academy of the Holy Cross is accepting resumes for a Social Studies Teacher.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Social Studies/History, desirable experience with AP Human Geography and AP Psychology
- Demonstrate effective classroom management skills
- Prepare and follow course syllabi and objectives in accordance with the established scope and sequence of the department curriculum
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to provide excellence to students of all ability levels
- Collaborate on pacing and major assessments with fellow teachers
- Evaluate student work and maintain up-to-date records of student assessments and grades
- Maintain a pleasant and productive class environment that is student-centered and conducive to learning
EDUCATION:
- B.A. in History, or Social Studies Education or a related field
- MA in History or Education, or related field is desirable
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with integrating appropriate educational technologies into the teaching environment, including integration of the iPad and assistive technologies of the iPad is desirable
- Experience teaching social studies in a high school setting
SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing
- Ability and willingness to plan and organize materials and lessons
- Ability to work with colleagues in the History and Social Studies department to develop lesson plans, write assessments and generally maintain academic standards
- Ability to work in partnership with parents, staff, students and the community to provide student-centering learning
- Expected and encouraged to become active members of the school community as club moderators, coaches, advisors and mentors outside of the classroom
- Must be comfortable teaching students in an all-girls Catholic School
