Friends Community School (FCS) is seeking assistant counselors for our summer camp program with flexible week-long commitments between June 12, 2023, through August 18, 2023.
This is a seasonal position. Compensation for this position starts at $13.25 commensurate with experience.
Duties of Assistant Counselor:
Assist Camp Teachers in conducting a recreational and educational camp program.
Help plan and lead age-appropriate activities, for small groups and/or all-camp activities.
Assist Camp staff in supervising campers during lunch and/or recess duty.
Lead, supervise, and dismiss campers during Extended-Day as scheduled.
Participate in any training and orientation sessions or review virtual guides prior to the start of camp.
Help set up and clean up for all activities. Leave the rooms clean and organized at the end of each day's session.
Hours of Assistant Counselor:
Assistant counselors must arrive prior to and be ready to work by the scheduled start time.
Camp assistant counselor schedules are 7:45 AM - 3:15 PM (7.5 hours).
Office assistant counselor (Floaters) schedules are 10:30 AM - 6:00 PM (7.5 hours).
Scheduled hours will be posted at least one (1) week in advance.
Assistant counselors working will receive a half-hour lunch break.
Assistant counselors are expected to provide coverage for scheduled lunch or recess duties.
Assistant counselors must be available to work for all hours and all days of the agreed-upon sessions.
Office assistant counselors working aftercare (3:00 PM - 6:00 PM) are permitted to leave prior to 6:00 PM with the approval of a camp administrator if their last camper has been picked up AND their classroom/spaces are cleaned up.
In the event of an emergency, illness, or necessary absence, please notify the Director of Auxiliary Programs in enough time to find a suitable substitute.
Teaching/childcare experience recommended. Candidates must have a high school diploma.
Strong technology, organizational and communication skills.
Additional qualities include flexibility, patience, a sense of humor and a demonstrated love for working with young children and their families.
Successful candidates will need to be able to successfully complete all background checking requirements at the time of hire.
Present COVID-19 vaccination records or exemption prior to the first day on site, and participate in subsequent routine testing for COVID-19 as well as adherence to all health and safety protocols associated with working on campus.
