National Presbyterian School, an independent, coeducational elementary school (Pre-K 3—6th Grade) in Washington, D.C., seeks a full-time Front Desk Receptionist who will begin in the summer of 2023.
The Front Desk Receptionist serves as a friendly and welcoming presence for students, parents, prospective families, and visitors to the school. Responsibilities include monitoring and directing all incoming phone calls to the school’s main telephone line and subsequently answering and directing questions from members of the NPS community and external callers. In addition, the Front Desk Receptionist ensures that students’ daily attendance is accurately compiled and recorded. The Front Desk Receptionist also works closely with the school’s administrative team to facilitate efficient, organized, and safe school operations.
The school is looking for the following qualifications and characteristics in a Front Desk Receptionist:
A warm, welcoming, and friendly demeanor to serve as the “face” of the school at the main entrance
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task effectively
High energy level and proactive, flexible approach
Skilled verbal and written communicator
Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Basic knowledge of database management and graphic design applications helpful
Ability to work productively and collaboratively with faculty and staff, and to interact congenially with parents
Patience, humor, ease, and comfort in relating to children
