St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, MD, seeks a Learning Specialist to work with students in grades 6 - 12 beginning August 21, 2023. The Learning Specialist recognizes and appreciates the diversity and range of learning needs among students and works collaboratively with learners, their families, and their teachers to understand and support all students. This full-time position will involve providing direct academic coaching to students; implementing a comprehensive, systematic program to provide interventions; and writing individual learning plans to provide support. Additional responsibilities include working with outside professionals (i.e testers and tutors) to create additional support and filing for College Board and ACT accommodations.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; at least three years proven experience in and knowledge of working with students with learning differences; interpreting psychological evaluations; navigating the College Board and ACT accommodation request process, and writing Accommodation Plans. This exciting opportunity will require a faculty member who can work collaboratively with the other learning specialists, college counselors, fellow teachers, and administrators. In addition, this candidate will possess the skills and desire to engage and inspire students in the pursuit of learning.
