7th and 8th Grade Language Arts
Green Acres seeks an experienced middle school language arts teacher. The seventh and eighth grade language arts program helps students to become increasingly sophisticated as readers, writers, and thinkers by engaging them in the reading of novels (like The Outsiders and Long Way Down), poetry, and short stories, and by having them write both creatively and analytically. Applicants should demonstrate experience in hands-on, project-based learning as well as more traditional forms of instruction. Students currently engage in projects where they stage a mock trial, write memoirs and poetry, and become part of a “Human Library.” Middle school classes cultivate skills through collaboration, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving.
