National Presbyterian School, an independent, co-educational elementary school (Pre-K 3 through 6th Grade) in Washington, DC, is seeking a part-time School Nurse for the 2023-2024 school year.
The part-time School Nurse will serve for two days a week as part of a rotation with the school’s other Nurse and on those days will serve as the primary health care provider for the 300 students enrolled in the school. In addition, the School Nurse oversees the health care needs of the school’s 15-child infant and toddler center. The part-time School Nurse is responsible for management of medical records and treatment plans and is expected to provide basic medical treatment for illness and injuries, administer medications during the school day, help provide necessary training for faculty and staff, and serve as the school’s primary communicator with parents, faculty and staff, and DC Health and health care matters.
Applicants for this position should have the following qualifications:
Registered nurse licensed in the District of Columbia
Possess prior pediatric healthcare experience preferably in a school setting
Knowledge of current principles and best practices of nursing standards of care
Warm, nurturing and sympathetic to the needs of young students
Demonstrated ability to maintain personal and professional accountability by adhering to state mandates and established policies, procedures, and standards of excellence while providing quality health care
Excellent communicator via verbal and written communications
Ability to relate to and interact positively with all members of the School community
Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office suite and, ideally, Senior Systems database and the Magnus Student Health Record System
Professional demeanor and presentation
