Maret School is looking for an inspiring and engaging visual art teacher who reflects Maret's mission and core values. This position teaches ceramics to seventh and eighth grades and sculpture to upper school students. The position also serves as a student advisor, including one or more community responsibilities, and is supervised by the chair of the Visual Art Department.
Maret seeks candidates who are lifelong learners and who have experience differentiating instructional strategies, strong communication skills, and a facility and nimbleness with technology. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in their work.
The successful candidate will:
Have experience teaching introductory and advanced levels of ceramics, including the use of various clays, glazes, finishing techniques, and hands-on techniques with coil, slab, press mold, modeling, and the potter’s wheel;
Have experience with carving, casting, and fabrication;
Display excellent classroom management skills and enthusiasm for working with students in Grades 7–12;
Be committed to professional development and collaboration with colleagues across disciplines;
Exhibit a deep passion for teaching and working with students of all ages and differing strengths;
Have a master’s degree (preferred)
