The Madeira School is seeking a skilled and experienced part-time Biology Teacher to teach one 80-minute block a day of 9th grade Biology from 2/10/25-5/2/25 (corresponding with the school’s mod 5 and mod 6 grading periods). From 2/10/25-3/15/25, the part-time teacher would need to be on campus from 12:30-2:45pm and from 3/31/25 to 5/2/25, the part-time teacher would need to be on campus from 10:30-12:45pm. A desire to collaborate with colleagues, a commitment to encouraging the potential in every student, a commitment to student-oriented learning, and a willingness to use a learning management system and online gradebook are essential.
The ideal candidate would:
Believes all students can learn all sciences on a deep level
Develop a classroom culture that is inclusive, safe, joyful, and fosters a sense of belonging for students of all identities and backgrounds.
Know how girls learn and use this knowledge to guide instructional and curricular decisions; apply principles of student-oriented learning when developing curriculum and assessing student learning.
Organize rich, student-centered lessons and units from an existing curricular structure
Work collaboratively with a team of faculty, colleagues, administrators and parents.
Has a desire to grow their teaching practices and routinely reflects on their lessons and seeks feedback
Maintain accurate student records such as grades and comments and communicate such data in accordance with the Academic Calendar and School expectations.
Qualifications:
Holds a degree in Biology or a related field, Bachelor’s degree required.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Has taught Biology at the high school or collegiate level.
