St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School seeks an experienced Theater Manager and Technical Theater Director to join its performing arts faculty. Primary responsibilities of this role are overseeing the technical operations and scheduling of school events that use the theater spaces at the Upper School. This would include day-to-day management of the school's theaters and support of a wide variety of school events, including performing arts productions and concerts, assemblies and chapel services, and special school events. This position is also responsible for teaching technical theater courses and managing production design and operation (e.g, set construction, electrics, and sound) for mainstage performances. Successful candidates will have the following professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions:
- Be an expert in technical theater operations, including set building, lighting, audio, video projections, etc.
- Be skilled in teaching the many facets of stagecraft, lighting, and sound with an emphasis on safety.
- Have excellent group management, organizational and planning skills.
- Have a degree in technical theater or significant professional experience and relevant teaching experience.
- Serve as the primary contact person for technical operations supporting school events (e.g., fine arts, professional development, admissions, etc.) in the Upper School theater spaces.
- Be responsible for the review, maintenance, and replacement of all technical equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Be responsible for the review and maintenance of front and back of house spaces for upkeep and repair.
- Embrace an inclusive, collaborative, and positive attitude and a willingness to be flexible when unexpected challenges develop.
