Stone Ridge is seeking an Upper School Theology Teacher to begin in January 2025.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The Upper School Theology Teacher is responsible for:
teaching five sections of theology in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. The courses include four sections of Scripture and one section of Catholic Social Teaching/Social Justice.
working closely with colleagues, creating and updating plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum.
actively collaborating with Learning Strategists and Educational Technologists to develop strategies to support all students, and working with the Counseling staff in developing social-emotional programming.
attending all faculty and employee meetings, participating in the Social Action Program, serving as an Advisor, fulfilling other faculty duties, and maintaining good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
The ideal candidate has experience teaching theology and possesses a BA or MA in theology. An early career candidate is encouraged to apply, especially someone who has an interest in developing the pedagogy, career, and profession of education. Desired candidates should be practicing Catholics with the ability to be certified as a religion teacher in the Archdiocese of Washington. In addition, a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities and integrating educational technologies in teaching is required. Ideally, candidates are familiar with the School’s pedagogical approach to instruction, Understanding by Design.
Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience and education based on our salary scale.
