St. Anselm’s Abbey School seeks an Associate Director of College Counseling to start summer 2025. This is a full-time, 11-month position.
The Associate Director is part of a two-person college counseling team and reports to the Director of College Counseling. The office supports Upper School students, families, and faculty in all aspects of the college application process, with particular emphasis on the senior class, which typically numbers around 40 students.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide students & parents with information meetings on the college planning process and financial aid.
Conduct individual student & family conferences for advisement of the college preparatory program, standardized testing, and the selection of appropriate college choices.
Recruit and host college representatives for school visits.
Communicate with students and parents about college visits, college fairs, open house programs, and scholarship opportunities.
Assist students with the preparation of application documents (essay, resume, US service academy forms, application, and recommendation forms).
Gather application materials (transcripts, school profile, teacher recommendations, etc.) and submit via Naviance to college admissions offices.
Communicate with college admissions officers and representatives in support of student applications.
Coordinate on-campus PSAT testing.
Prepare a counselor letter which positively and accurately assesses the academic and personal growth, development, and achievement of the students assigned to the counselor.
Attend relevant workshops and conventions and visit colleges for professional development.
In addition to the college counseling duties outlined below, the successful candidate may be asked to teach one class in the Middle or Upper School (up to 10 periods per week). Applicants should indicate experience and/or interest in teaching, including potential subject area(s) and grade level(s).

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have at least an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline; at least 3-5 years of experience with college counseling and/or college admissions, preferably in independent schools; and an understanding and appreciation of the mission of St. Anselm’s Abbey School.
