The Assistant Principal for Academics is responsible for implementing and executing a strategic vision for academic programming and student success at The Academy of the Holy Cross. The Assistant Principal will oversee development, instructional alignment, and assessment practices; provide support and guidance for faculty to ensure high academic standards; oversee student academic progress and interventions; and collaborate with key stakeholders to promote a Christ-centered, high-quality learning environment.
The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Principal and serve as a key member of the school's academic leadership team to promote and uphold the Academy's mission of educating young women to meet the social, spiritual, and intellectual challenges of the world.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs to ensure excellence and alignment with the mission and values of The Academy of the Holy Cross.
Supervise the design, delivery, and review of curriculum across all departments.
Work collaboratively with the student support team to monitor and analyze student performance data to oversee academic interventions and ensure continuous improvement in student outcomes.
Collaborate with department chairs and faculty to promote effective instructional practices and provide professional development opportunities.
Maintain and update academic policies, including grading, attendance, and graduation requirements, to reflect best practices and current standards.
Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching practices and foster collaboration among faculty
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and faculty regarding academic progress, policies, and programs.
Support and mentor faculty in setting and achieving professional growth goals.
Work with the administrative team to ensure a cohesive academic strategy.
Partner with the Admissions Office to evaluate applicants and ensure proper academic placement for incoming students.
Stay current with trends and research in education to bring innovative and effective practices to the school community.
Perform other related duties as needed to support the academic mission of the school.

Job Requirements:
Education:
Must have a master's degree in education, curriculum and instruction, or a related field
Experience:
Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in an academic leadership role, preferably in a Catholic or independent school environment.
Must have demonstrated success in leading academic initiatives and driving student achievement.
Must have experience in faculty supervision, curriculum development and data-driven decision-making.
Skills:
Must be a collaborative leader and a "doer" who can also set strategic academic goals.
Must have excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
Must have demonstrated experience in analyzing student data and using it to inform decision-making.
Must have exceptional organizational and time management skills
Must be proficient in using educational technology, student information systems, and data management tools.
Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and parents.
Must be a self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively.
Must have flexibility in assuming additional responsibilities.
The Academy of the Holy Cross, is a private, Catholic high school (grades 9 - 12) for young women located in Kensington, MD. The college preparatory program reflects a holistic approach to education by fostering the intellectual, physical and moral development of the students. The school is sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and has been in continuous operation in the Archdiocese since 1868.
