Loudoun Country Day School (LCDS) is looking for an enthusiastic, talented educator to join our middle school as an orchestra teacher for the 2025-26 academic year. Reporting to the Middle School Director, our new middle school orchestra teacher will be a collaborative and passionate educator who understands the nuances of middle school-aged children.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and dedicated professional who is able to communicate and collaborate with students, parents/guardians, fellow classroom teachers, and school staff, and is committed to the mission and core values of LCDS.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following

- Success at working collaboratively as a member of a team
- Builds positive relationships with students and fosters a sense of belonging
- An appreciation for the unique qualities of middle school aged students
- A willingness to employ differentiated instruction to meet learners at their level of need
Teaching Qualifications:
- Teach 10 periods of grades 4-8 orchestra per week.
- Support and contribute to all music department events
- Attend all required meetings
- Attend LCDS required events throughout the year.
- Plan and attend the annual, evening Winter Music Performance, including teaching four additional class periods in November/December, during which students rehearse for the performance.
- Coordinate to plan and attend the annual, evening Spring Music Performance, including teaching four additional class periods in April/May, during which students rehearse for the performance.
- Attend the Grandparents' Day Performance, which will be held in early May.
- Attend the Graduation Ceremony, which will be held in early June.
- Engage in classroom observations by administration and colleagues
- Willing to offer private lessons after school. The teacher is paid through the school for after school private lessons.
- Participation in recess duties, school assemblies, and the substitute process based on school guidelines.
