The Academy of the Holy Cross is accepting resumes for an experienced and passionate Social Studies teacher with expertise in teaching World History and Advanced Placement (AP) History courses and a deep enthusiasm for engaging students in the study of history and social studies

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach World History and Advanced Placement (AP) History courses, with potential opportunities to teach additional courses and electives.
Demonstrate effective classroom management skills to create a student-centered and engaging learning environment
Development and implement lesson plans aligned with department curriculum and objectives
Use diverse instructional strategies to provide support to students of all varying ability levels
Evaluate student progress through assessments, maintain accurate records, and provide constructive feedback.
Collaborate closely with colleagues to align course pacing, major assessments, and curricular development
Incorporate appropriate educational technology into the teaching environment
Maintain professional competence through professional development and in-service activities
Contribute to departmental initiatives and participate in school-wide academic review processes
Serve as an advisor and engage in additional school-related duties as needed
Potential opportunities to supervise after-school activities based on interest and institutional needs.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in History, Social Studies Education or a related field required
Master's Degree in History or Education, or related field is desirable
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three years of high school teaching experience preferred
Demonstrated expertise in teaching World History and Advanced Placement (AP) History courses
Experience teaching additional Advanced Placement (AP) courses such as Comparative Government and Politics
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching opportunities
Background in diverse educational experiences such as maker-ed, research methods or specialized social science fields.

The college preparatory program reflects a holistic approach to education by fostering the intellectual, physical and moral development of the students. The school is sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and has been in continuous operation in the Archdiocese since 1868.
