Interested in working with independent schools in the greater D.C. area? We are looking for a new team member to join us in our small school-based association. The Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington (AISGW) supports 79 independent schools in Washington, D.C. and its environs, which in turn educate over 30,000 students from early childhood through high school. The Association is committed to fostering high professional standards and sound educational practices at and among its member schools through innovative leadership and professional development programs for heads of school, administrators and boards of trustees. We are also the leading advocate for independent schools in the region, working with media, government, educational and community individuals and groups to sustain and strengthen education in the Washington D.C. area.

Summary
The Assistant for Member Services helps AISGW staff to effectively host approximately 15-20 events every year. The Assistant is a detail-oriented and technologically savvy aide, who can plan and execute programming and events from start to finish, will interact with web and software tools used by the Association and who will need to keep track of the details for the successful implementation of many of the Association’s member services. The Assistant will work on a part-time basis, roughly 10 hours per week. Over time the role may allow for increased responsibility and engagement in developing association programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Partner with the Associate Director for Programs and Engagement to execute 15–20 events annually, ensuring all aspects—from online registration to post-event data—are handled with precision and professionalism.
Coordinate logistics: set up online registration, procure and manage outside caterers and supplies, prepare name tags and rosters, and ensure all technology needs are met for speakers and attendees.
Serve as a key point of contact, communicating with event venues and attendees.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and team to design visually engaging presentations using Canva, PowerPoint and other creative tools.
Be present at events from registration through breakdown if needed.
Track, compile, and analyze program data to help us continually improve our offerings and member engagement.
Tackle additional projects and responsibilities as they arise, contributing your ideas and energy to our small, collaborative team.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
Strong communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
Ability to work with external and internal constituents
Familiarity with D.C. area independent schools either as a former employee, parent volunteer or alumnus strongly preferred
Prior experience in event and/or program planning
Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, Canva and Publisher
Job requires access to a car for event management.
