The Langley School, a PS-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a 5th-8th grade SEL Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Social-Emotional Learning Teacher will be responsible for teaching SEL/Health lessons in grades 5-8 including topics such as mindfulness, mental health awareness, identity, and human development and sexuality. The SEL Teacher will collaborate closely with the director of student support/SEL and the director of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging on lesson content. The SEL Teacher will share SEL resources and strategies to support students across the domains of emotional acuity, cultural responsiveness, and healthy behaviors in all subjects. The SEL Teacher will also participate in the life of the school, including, but not limited to being an advisor, teaching electives, chaperoning day and overnight trips, supervision of break and/or lunch, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree in education, psychology, or related field is preferred. A background in teaching lessons and facilitating conversations related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as human development, is desired. Candidates must have experience working with children in educational or counseling settings. In addition, excellent written and verbal communication skills, an interest in collaborating with colleagues, and a passion for working with children are required.
