Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School invites applications for a teacher in the English Department for the 2026-2027 academic year, teaching 4 sections (80%). Located in Washington, DC, and founded in 1799, Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School educates young women in grades 9 – 12 in a faith-centered community focused on educational excellence and rooted in the Roman Catholic faith and Salesian tradition.

We’re seeking a candidate who can nurture young women's sense of wonder; awaken students' appreciation for literature's expression of the human experience; and build their confidence in their abilities. The ideal candidate will help students learn how to read with both a critical eye and compassionate heart and how to communicate effectively in both speech and writing. Successful candidates should have a strong academic background in AP English Language and composition, as well as previous teaching experience in the subject at the secondary level, along with energy, enthusiasm, and a desire to communicate and work with young women. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both their pedagogy and the literature they teach. Candidates must also be willing to work closely with departmental colleagues in a collaborative setting and to attend school-wide events and regular departmental and faculty meetings. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, master’s preferred.
