Summary description:
Green Acres School is seeking a dedicated full-time Spanish teacher to teach students in 4th-8th grades. Teaching in the target language is required, along with the ability to integrate both language skills and cultural literacy.Teachers conduct classes in Spanish as much as possible, using authentic games, songs, conversations, and other activities and projects to help children internalize language components. The Spanish teacher will participate in the review and development of the school-wide Spanish curriculum to ensure coherency of scope and sequence from pre-k to 8th grade. Teachers at Green Acres School enjoy a friendly and collaborative working environment, a supportive mentoring program, and benefits.
Responsibilities:
Teaching:
Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based units and lessons in Spanish
Encourage critical thinking and a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives and narratives.
Integrate project-based learning and experiential opportunities into the curriculum.
Collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
Use a variety of assessment tools to support and measure student growth.
Create a classroom environment that celebrates diversity, promotes equity, and supports the social-emotional development of students.
Participate in school life beyond the classroom (e.g., advisory, field trips, community events).
Core Middle School teachers accompany students as a chaperone on overnight trips.
At times, serve as student advisors and engage students in social-emotional learning, as well as acting as liaisons between advisee families and the school.
Leadership:
Models professionalism in the classroom and amongst colleagues and families
Positively represents the Green Acres community
Is collaborative and models lifelong learning
